Photo Locker features:
What makes us different from all those other image hosting companies?
This question has been asked of us as well as asked by us many times. In response to this question we compiled a list of features that you can find here at Photo Locker that you might not find at other image hosting sites.
- Flexible hosting packages
- Photo Locker currently offers two hosting plans. For the casual user we have our standard account that is free. For the user that has more serious image hosting needs we offer a very affordable paid hosting package.
- We do not brand or tag YOUR images
- Unlike some other free image hosts Photo Locker will never add a branding or tag line to your images. Your photograph is your property and we offer hosting plans that permit you to share your images with out the worry of them being visually altered in this manor
- Multiple file upload
- Members can upload multiple files at a time. This will enable you to save time when sharing files. At this time jpg, gif and png file formats are the only ones supported. Additional file formats will be supported in the near future.
- Image management
- Unlike anonymous image hosting services Photo Locker requires users create an account before images can be uploaded. Doing this allows you to manage your images in an easy manor. From our "My Images" management interface users can resize their images, make a copy of the image, rename the image, categorize images into galleries, e-mail images to friends, obtain individual URL, HTML, BB Code or Thumbnail code or delete your image(s).
- Organize images into galleries
- Standard and Premium members both have the ability to organize their images into galleries. Galleries allow you to share multiple images with friends and family easily. Galleries organize your images by displaying thumbnails (small versions of your images) on a single page. Viewers can click on an individual thumbnail to view a larger version of the image. From this view the visitor can navagate your images with Previous/Next links or view a full size version of your image by clicking on the image again. Galleries provide maximum flexibility when sharing your images.
- Auto copy code to clipboard
- Members using Internet Explorer can simply click on the URL, HTML, BB Code or Thumbnail box in the "My Images" or "My Galleries" pages to copy the code to their clipboard. From there users can easily paste the code into what ever document they desire.
- Bandwidth Management
- On the "My Images" page each image that has been uploaded will display how much bandwidth has been used for that given image. This helps users establish what images are more popular. If a particular image has a very high bandwidth usage its quite possible someone has 'hot linked' your image with out your permission. If this occurs just rename your image. This will in effect break all existing references to the image but if someone is stealing your image that’s what you want right?
- Image Tracking
- See how many times your images have been displayed. In addition to the bandwidth management the image tracking will permit users to keep an eye on how many times a given image has been seen. If this number starts climbing out of control its very possible someone is using your image with out permission. At that point we can help track down the offending person(s)
- E-mail images to friends/family
- On the "My Images" and "My Galleries" page members can e-mail links to images or galleries to friends and family. Sharing images is now as easy as 1,2,3. Upload your image(s), Organize them into galleries if you wish, select the image(s) or gallery(s) you want to share, enter the e-mail address and supply a short message and finally click the E-mail button
- Auto resize of extra large images
- Our auto resize feature allows members to upload images larger than the maximum image size. Our system will automatically resize the image to the maximum size allowed by the plan. For example images larger than 1024x768 will automatically be resized to that level when upgraded under a Standard account. The resizing process does reduce image quality.
